TCC Solenoid and GM Convertor Lock-up Problems
There is a solenoid in your GM converter that causes the the torque convertor clutch (TCC) to engage and disengage. When the TCC solenoid receives a signal from the engine control module (ECM), it opens a passage in the valve body and hydraulic fluid applies the TCC. When the ECM signal stops, the solenoid closes the valve and pressure is vented, causing the TCC to disengage.

I'm having trouble getting TCC Lockup working correctly on my 4L60E. I have an indicator light programmed in my Digital Dash to indicate converter lockup and only see it come on when I apply the brakes. Reading the instructions, it states "Brake Switch (Gray) – Wired to the brake light switch. This must be installed to a +12V source (as most brake light switches are).
What happens if I remove the wire to the TCC solenoid
I have a 1993 pontiac sunbird 4.0 LE engine. I was told by a repair shop that my throttle converter clutch solenoid (TCC solenoid) is bad. I have read that you can unplug the wire to it, and it will not harm the car, but I will use more gasoline. If I do this, is it going to harm my car otherwise. Thanks, JR
