I like the manual PTO - at least on the 300/400/500 series as those series are what I have. I knew a guy that had a Wheelhorse for about 30 or more years with an electric PTO and it was fine - but when it did finally go bad, it cost a lot of $$$'s to replace.

i don't really follow your logic is how a manually engaged pto engages the deck slowly and smoothly vs. an electric pto. i have a 36" wb with a manual pto and a 52" stander with an electric pto. you either push the lever or pull the button and bam the blades are turning. nothing slow about it.
