Back to "Maintenance" 4 Serpentine Belt Replacement. Please note: This writeup was completed on my 2001 Jeep TJ with a 4.0L I-6 engine, and it also worked on my 1998 Monte Carlo Z34 with a 3 V6 (it should also apply to Cherokees, Grand Cherokees and Wranglers with the 4.0L).

Be certain the engine is OFF, and I suggest, ALSO COOL to eleminate the potential for burns to hands or arms. I don't know exactly how it works, but I suspect that the soap acts as a lubricant.
